Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Why didn't IMI start stamping?

Whenever a Galil discussion strikes up, the answer is always the same: weight is the biffest drawback of the rifle.  The answer to the weight is the milled receiever.  Why has a stamped or aluminum receievr never been prototyped?
