Not original for a Maadi, or for most AKMs. Pictures of such have been seen, though the origin is unknown.

Maadi side folder
Some Maadi's did have a folder, but not like you described. I think they look like the one pictured above. They are not common either. Just about every Maadi I have seen came with the laminated buttstock. The triangle side folders were generally used on AK74's. |

As Carb850 said a very few were imported with the pictured side folder. IIRC the number was like 12.

That sidefolder is on rifles pictured on Vector's site. I guess you can still get a rifle with that stock technically, and swap it with the Maadi if it will fit.
