Guy at the local gun shop said i could not put one on if it did not come that way. ANYWAY!!  How do I go about getting one put on and how much should I expect to pay to have it done. Thanks

It gets you into the compliance issue....which makes you start replacing parts all over the place.

I think it shouldn't cost you more than $40 to have a gunsmith thread the barrel and install one.....AFTER you install all the complaince parts first.

I used this on my SAR-1: wjm's barrel threading kit

Pick up a US made slant brake from Global Trades or Brownells and you don't have to worry about parts count.
