I want to restain all my wood on my sa85.How do i get the wood of the fore end.It all seems to be stamped around ,both top and bottom.There must be a trick any ideas.

There is a small metal lever on the right hand side of the front site base, turn that lever and it will realease the hand guards. To remove the gas tube I take a large screw driver and put the shaft in teh notch on the rear of the tube, and twist the hand guard while keeping the tube still, it shouldn't take much force.

I have a stained set of SA85M front wood that I'll trade for an original set. The color is walnut, and there is no varnish - just an oiled finish like original.
