MW, My wife is also petite and enjoys my 74 side folder. The tantal would be almost identical. You might add a buffer from Blackjack. I have a Vepr in 5.45 that has almost zero recoil due to the heavier weight of the rifle. My wife likes the Vepr if she can rest it on something and not packing it around. I have one AR15 and a couple AKs in 223. I would say the diference in recoil is very minimal. Either one should work and a buffer and muzzle brake could give minor relief. Hope this helps, CB

AK-005B BUTT PLATE ~, Rubber Shock Absorber With Strap. 19.99 Wrap this on the end, there is a hole slot in front for the butt to fit into. Tomac uses them on his Saiga 12ga with the same style folder, and it makes my Galil type folder on a 7.62 all-day BulletFest shoulder friendly. If she prefers more cheek weld, the Tantal does not have to be built to fold. A new rear trunion and US butt stock can be had for about what the folder bits sell for, and help with the US parts count at the same time. The $10 Tapco ak/sks 1" rubber pad bolts well onto these also. Mine has about 4 yrs of serious abuse on a SAR1. Also an excuse to make it plum for her. |

My wife loves her Tantal I built. Couldn't find a pic of her shooting it but you can see it on the shooting bench. She's only 5ft and 100# The AMD-63 knocks her around pretty good
