Congrats! Amazing how accurate an AK is when you aim it.

SWEET. I can not wait to use my AK74 built by JNEWT in the next FDCC shoot. I used mt Vector under folder once and came in about 10th out of about 25 people. Not to bad for first match with it.

I am just glad to see AKs doing well in these venues.  I am using my AK-103 in a three gun match in October and this makes me feel better about doing it.

We had several LE and military guys shooting with us today as well, and several guys who've had some pretty damn good training.

I shot my DSA StG-58A in Battle Rifle, and my Arsenal SLR-105A1 with Barnaul FMJ, and had a little duelin' underfolder action going on with BlackScot, his new Arsenal SAS-M7 no-ban vs. my Yugo M90.

It was a whole lot of fun.  If you get some trigger time in, the AK I think is just as relevant in these competitions as an AR is.

Thanks, I am trying to get the most out of it, but teethed on M16s and AR-15s.  I have done some military  competition with rack grade rifles, but this will be a new one.  Any advice on reloadd drills?  Also the longest shot will be 300m.  What range would you zero for, I know AK's have different bullet drop than ARs.

Thanks, Jon

I would love to have seen the looks on the AR guys faces after witnessing first hand "The power of the Darkside", LOL. Good going guys ...

Not the rifle guys... it's the man who's using it.

Still good job on your results. Shows how well you shoot.

Yep!  That's me!  Way down there next to last!

Oh well!  Everyone has to be some where!  The moral of the story: "Never go into battle with un proven equipment!"

I think not being able to see the front sight really killed me on those long range double taps to the head and body.  Heck, I missed one whole target four times before I realized that my front sight was not centered in the rear sight!

Of course, the jam in the eight shot string (with no make up shot avaiable) did not help much.  Correct mags from K-Var should end those kinds of difficulties!

Yours,
One Rusty Nut.

Did you see a VEPR? I would be suprised if you didn't, seeing as how this is one of the areas the VEPR would excel in. I think it would be classified as an AK-74 rather than an RPK-74....

Nope, no Tantals...........couple of Arsenal SLR-105A1's and a couple of Romanian SAR-2's.

Here are the scores.  I didn't do too badly with an iron sighted DSA StG-58A .308 compared to the guys with Carbines either.

Great shooting!  I'm sure you made some AR guys think once or twice about joining the dark side

Did ya'll notice the one guy shooting the M1 Carbine?!  That's old school.

I've been shooting my SAR-1 at our local Practical Rifle match for about a year and a half now. Nothing pleases me more than the look on the AR guy's faces when you hit the 200 yrd ringer on the first shot with iron sights.....
I will admit, I did just buy a Kobra......hopefully will have it sighted in in time for next month's match. I'm curiously excited to see what it will do.
I do have a question for you small bore guys though........at our matches they don't allow magnetic ammo, because it tends to chew up the expensive steel targets. Now, that's not an issue for me, as I just buy the copper jacket Wolf 122gr., but I don't think I've ever seen non bi-metal jacket 5.45. Do you guys not have any problems, or has it not been addressed buy your club? That's part of the reason I don't have a '74 yet......I want to be able to use it in our match, but no friendly ammo, yet.
thanks, Bill

Maybe the dude with the Mini-14, is using the rifle he uses most . In that case He's smart to use it in comp. Train with what you use and how you use it. Become the best with that you can be.

Not trying to be preachy but maybe that's all he can use.
