It appears that for one reason or another that the entire SAR series of rifles are no longer in production. There aren't even any good rumors about more of them coming in anytime soon. I believe that Century has expanded thier WASR line of rifles to include 5.45 and 5.56MM rifles.

Current firearm import laws only allow singe stack mag rifles to be imported. They are converted to double stack rifles here and US parts are added here to make them 922r compliant. |

Yesterday on AuctionArms, I saw a Intrac MkII, which is the was around before the SAR-2s. It was in the thumbhole stock config, but from what I read, they are better quality than the SAR-2s.
It was only $339 too. |

the wum2, cur2 and the 992 all preceded the sar2, albeit in very limited quantities due to a very limited demand for 5.45 rifles.
the last import dates i've seen on sar2's was 2003. |
