Hey guys, I come from "the other side" I come in peace.

Looks like I am going to be picking up a Hungarian FEG AK this week from someone who owes me some money. I had a few questions and was hoping the AK gurus gould help out the Patriot.

What is the consensus of FEG rifles? This is one of the rifles with the thumbhole stock and if I keep this rifle, it must go. How many US parts does a Kalashnikov with a pistol grip need? Anyone know where to get wood buttstocks for Hungarian stamped receivers? I looked on K-Var and all they had was plastic for Hungarian, I'd like to create an authetic wood furniture AK look. Anyway to tell if barrel is chrome lined? Are RSA trigger groups still the way to go? I had the RSA FCG is a Romanian rifle, nice stuff. Are the barrels chrome lined? Anyway, I have owned several AK's, never seem to hang on to them long, no real reason. Is this a keeper? Thanks guys.

Patriot,
I will keep this simple and try to answer all your questions.

1.  FEG makes a good ak no matter what model it is.
2.  You'll need five US parts to have the pistol grip configuration, Six if you want a muzzle device.
3.  Check Global Trades in Texas, they should have the wood furniture you are looking for.
4.  Yes, the barrel should be chrome lined.
5.  RSA trigger groups are still the best out there IMHO,  G2 make a good one too, less $.
6.  Whether it's a keeper or not, I would have to see a pic,  also it depends how much $ this guy      owes/owed you, then I could tell you if it's a "good deal".

Hope this helps.

Guys, you rock. Thanks so much but looks like the deal fell through. Actually funny cause my buddy came over tonight and offered to trade me a milled Bulgarian AK for my old Olympic preban AR15. The Bulgarian has a thumbhole stock but does accept double stack mags. He syas it's brande new? Would you fellas be so kind as to answer the exact same questions I asked in regards to a milled Bulgarian? I gotta be honest, something tells me that it would be a good idea to do this trade. I like the milled AK idea. Thanks again guys!!
