The sad thing is that when I took over this little adventure, I wanted to try to bring a friendly feeling and a closer bond with all the well run and informative sites. We have a great relationship with GlockTalk, FalFiles, and SubGuns. I actually used to talk to the guys from Gunsnet as well and we got along great. Things went to shit with them when they finally got all their AK stuff working and their head's grew a few sizes bigger. Demands replaced requests and questions and they started weeding out people they did not like there. All it took was one Bulletfest, a few conversations with the guys who are here now, and we decided the best thing was to help in creating an option for people.

Campy's never been high on my small conduct code and has been a proponent of free speech. In allowing this place to grow to the size it has and stay positive, friendly, and pretty open, we adjusted things as needed and worked together. This place has a little less strict rules, but stays within the CC which I appreciate. I think we're pulling in the right people and expanding well on this side of the house. We're also seeing a big trend in guys now going AK/AR and no longer just AR!

Anyhow, Gunsnet burned bridges with just about every site out there. Threats to FalFiles, their own users, manufacturers, this site (both sides), and probably more people along the way, have soured their appearance and any respect they may have earned through hard work. We believe that YOU guys make the site what it is and we're here to serve you. They believe their users owe them for the site and that money should flow to their coffers for personal gain. Now we all need money to run, but these guys have lied and cheated in order to get where they are, why would they do that if not for themselves.

It's always been funny to watch them copy us in as many avenues as possible. They've stolen everything from our graphics to our conduct code to every idea we come up. They're #4 because they're always 2-3 steps behind us. Just remember that the owners of the site are the problem, not the guys in their community. Most of heir users bleed Red, White, & Blue like the bulk of us here.

Yes we do get along with other forums that is correct, as is much of what else you said. What I do disagree with is the fact that you think most of their good members are still there! Most are already here! (including their mods)....some post under their .nutz name...but many have chosen a pseudo name for fear of retaliation! Maybe our 4 day avg jumped from a ranking of 24 to 18 so fast because they were kind enough to point out our site over at .net?

11k average, almost 4 times that of GunsNet... I think DTHOR/BowHunter is out there somewhere crying.

We don't fake online lists, we don't fake stats, we don't bullshit or lie about what we are. These guys are so motivated by the wrong reasons that they just can't handle fact.

Any respect or potential desire to help them out has gone out the window faster than DTHOR/Bowhunt/Admins honor. Anyways nothing new about how to out smart the counter. All we would have to do is run a counter on 10% of our 600 forums and we would be at 12,000 unique visitors in less then a day. Then build the counter into the banner program then whaala 20,000 clicks.

I don't think they have any technical or software knowledge amongst them. Everyone obviously knows DTHOR doesn't know anything about PCs from the past. Chris has some technical skills, but I believe those are on the networking/server side. The fact of the matter is that the counters are as current or invalid as they are across all sites they monitor, thus how they can rank things. DTHOR is trying so hard to cover the fact that they are outclassed, that he's making up bullshit and leaving it public in an attempt to protect their investment.

I don't doubt they have some nice bills. They probably use about 2Mbps in bandwidth (over a T1) and they probably have to manage a good amount of mail and moderation of their boards. Making money to cover your ass or for your efforts was never a crime. My problem with them is the fact they try to con people, gouge people, and they're dishonest. When we talk to vendors we want to work with them, especially quality ones.

When we look at companies, we look at what positive impact they will make here, not how much they are willing to pay. We've had some iffy vendors here before and we removed them for their poor practices. Since then we've worked to keep only the best here based on YOUR input, not their wallets. In reading some of the anti-Joeken posts here lately, I'm glad we did not follow through with their request to be advertisers here. It would have simply made for more problems having a company with poor business practices representing the site. It also would have reflected poorly on the other companies who are here providing quality and customer satisfaction every day.

More work is being done this week on our AK content and library. I hope to have a lot done by the end of this weekend and with it being unique content donated by AK-74.Net (Thanks Luke!) as well as some of our Staff and Mods, we should have a very well rounded and kick ass collection. As we continue to move forward, we'll begin contacting more AK vendors and gunsmiths in an effort to bring the best names in the AK world here to you!!!

We are also making an effort to partner with a few special companies to bring new and fresh content and discussions to the site. I'm very excited about this as it will only enhance the community and bring more quality to the table! This has been a great year and we're still pushing the limits to bring in more, especially for this group.

Oh ya, I do think they still have some nice and intelligent users there mixed in with the nut jobs and diehards... hopefully they will stumble over here and see that there are options.

I consider myself to be an intelligent person, as well as thoughtful. After I joined the Army (it seems like a million years ago, but is only twelve), I pretty much lost interest in firearms and computers. After I was discharged I started getting interested in computers again, and when I found out I was moving to Memphis I bought a coupld of pistols, but still was not very interested in guns beyond staying just profecient enough with them to hit a target at ten meters. Several years later, I had moved from Memphis to Fayettville NC, and needed ammo for my CZ52 I had bought years ago for 59.00, so my brother and myself went to the local gun show as we browsed the rows of tables looking for what I considered exotic ammo we passed the table of Classic Arms where they had on display surplus M16 kits with all US parts, at that point I was not in teh slightest bit interested, however my brother was fit to be tied. For the next half hour my brother (who had never been in the military and hadn't shot an AR since we were 12 or 13, pestered me about what i knew about M16's and Ar15's, and wanted to know if I could put one together (he knew that it had to be built semi, and that he would have to replace some parts) I told him that yes with the upper alreasy built I could do it with no problem, that I had in fact torn M16's down and put them back together in the Army. The next thing I know he tells me he needs to go and get something, ten minutes later he tells me we need to find a reciever for a civilian AR15, we found a Bushmaster stripped lower for $129, and went home. He had to leave as soon as we got back to my house, so he left the parts with me, and I got real nervous (while I was in the Army A good friend of mine was a big AR fan and I remebered him making comments about having auto sears at home if you own an AR being a big no no), so I got onto the internet and started looking for information. I came across several site claiming to be the top gun sites on the net, but the one I found to be the most credible was AR15.com, however I spent the entire night reading different site making sure I knew everthing I could learn about building that rifle. When I get interested in something I take it very seriously, and become very deeply involved with it very quickly. The next day (I had a day off from work) I found a local shop that sold Colt AR15 parts, and bought what I needed to complete the rifle, brought them home and a little over half an hour later had asembeled the rifle, I took it to the local indoor range and bought a hundred rounds of ammo (I had already went through my old Army stuff and dug out some magazines), the rifle worked flawlessly (emotinally as well as mechanically), now I was hooked. I took out the reciepts from the kit and reciever and went out that day and bought myself a reciever and had ordered another kit by that afternoon. The next weekend I bought a couple of smith brakes and soem silver solder to keep the rifles legal, and ground of the tits on the bayo lug, and had a blast.  Within a week I had purchased a SAR1 for $249 and was hooked beyond hope. During all of this I  looked all over the internet, read through so many forums you would not believe (includign some site who are no longer around), but only found two that I felt wre worth registering with, I first registered with the FAL-Files and AR15.com. I remeber lurking around gunsnet, and being very turned off by all of the petty bickering that went on, and quickly got the feeling that the owners of the site were more interested in maintaining thier egos than helping the newbies, or learning from the old timers. Since then I have only become more convinced that I am already a member of the best gun sites on the web, and am far better off not even registering on gunsnet, just a few weeks ago the owner of that site reconfirmed that himself.

The really funny thing is that I am actually very proud of being a member and Mod here, but would not even consider being a nonpaying member over there, I have often been told that there is good information over there, but from what I have seen there really isn't, they have nothing other than shady vendors, that Ak47.net doesn't have.

We have played with "Top Gun Sites" counter program and in the end we are not impressed as the counter can be and has been manipulated oh so easily. I mention this as we have once had huge numbers for a day only to take it out and we are not the only ones who have done this as well.

You're 100% right and I feel like crap when I look into this thread. But a strange thing happens next, i start thinking of the help and countless phone calls with David to help them in getting things setup and running, the lies and bullshit he put me through, and the way he systematically isolates people all over the net. When he threatens friends, it becomes more personal and this sort of discussion no longer makes me feel badly. When they first bought AK-47.Net I was there supporting them and helping out. When they had issues and problems, questions and needs, I always offered to assist. When they got all over Campy and I offered him a place here with friends, I got insulted and threatened by them. All of this because of the mighty buck.

There's a TON of good people across a bunch of firearm sites and we're actually making an effort to try to get a few sites worknig together to improve things for everyone. Sharing information, promotions, events, and basically working together to improve the firearm community as a whole and not just our small ponds. I hope that this works out and we're able to bring people together because the stronger we stand together, the more we can accomplish.

I do feel like a child bickering over who has the best bike, but occasionaly when a self inflated bully talks crap and gets his ass kicked, you need to stand back and smile.

Any one that grabs a Beta-C mag and throws it into some one else's M16 and empties it without asking permission, fires down range while other people are down range checking their targets, claims to have been a Navy SEAL...and wasn't, or fucks with Campy deserves all the misery that comes his way.
