What receiver are these built on? Specifically thier Polish UF Atlantic Firearms offers. Im undecided between the Vector and the Red jacket, but im leaning towards the Vector.

hmmm, im sure that was a fluke given their reputation, Vector that is.

Would anyone recommend the Red Jacket over the Vector?

It's good to see Atlantic so proactive in helping with issues.

Im actually leaning more towards the Red Jacket now and its not because of SirGuapos issue either.

Im in the process of emailing you guys right now about it and a few other questions.

In 2005 I bought a Vector Arms Polish underfolder built on a Armory USA receiver from Atlantic Firearms...several thousand rounds later it still functions perfectly and I have never had a malfunction of any type.  Base on my experience I do recommend Vector Arms AKs.

Maybe I caught them on a bad week or something, I'm not sure. At any rate, you can feel ok purchasing one from Atlantic and if it is in good shape it's going to be a fine underfolder for sure. *But* I've only read glowing comments from people that got their Vector from back in 2005 or so and that has been a few years. This is just my experience so like I say - take it with a grain of salt. My thread does point out that you can buy a Vector from Atlantic and not have to worry though.

A Vector AK was my first AK. I've owned it for four years now, without a problem.  It always comes out when I go on long shooting days in the desert, and I use it to introduce 'noobs' to rifle shooting or the difference between an AR and AK.  The 'noobs' are always impressed....

I am impressed. Probably be the last one I'd sell (if my family was starving) or the last one to lose in a boating accident.

It rivals my best friend, my 10-yr-old boxer

Well, at some point I'll have the cash stashed up for another rifle and the itch for a nice underfolder hasn't been scratched. I wanted both the sgl and the vector so I'll give it another go I'm sure. But this time around I had to make a judgement call. Considering both rifles are good it was a no lose situation for me. Vector came up short just because the way they handled it piled on to the checklist of negatives. Not because I believe they are bad about turning out loads of junk on a regular basis. I won't lie though- I would like to see what kind of experience someone else has had with them recently instead of four or five years ago.

Are those heavy barreled ISD Vectors like the Armory SSR85 C-2s they had a while back, those were damn fine rifles.
