SBR, Sidefolder, Threaded Barrel, Bayonet Lugs, High Capacity Magazines unless all Pre-Ban, SBR etc. Some of my family lives out there and this at least from what I knew a few years ago was true. However some have fixed stock Romanian AK's with 22mm FSB's that were exempt since no silencer was ever modeled to fit one. RR |

I believe it is just in Chicago, the rest of the State should be ok for now.
I have a friend who is a FFL there, I'll check with him later today and post back what he says. |

You may do everything except the short barrel. A side folder is fine as long as you still use U.S. parts. Unless you are very good with a dremel, you would be best to have a smith do it, because it requires machining the receiver in a few places.

Illinois has no AWB.
You can have a regular AK-74 16" barrelled AK-74 in Illinois with no special paperwork or anything (beyond your FOID). Muzzle threads and folding stocks are all fine. The AK-105 conversion is a no-go for Illinois. It's a short-barrelled rifle and is legal in most other states with the proper paperwork and a $200 tax stamp. ETA: Are you in Cook county? |

No, I'm in Kendall county. God damn this state. So even if I buy the bulgy ak-74 from AF I have to convert the side folding butt stock to an american version?, wtf kind of an idiot passed this law?.

I think what the poster is saying is that you still need to have all of the 922 compliance parts. Your side folder does NOT need to be a USA made part. You will still need to have 6 USA made parts that count towards 922 compliance. |

Ok, since you're not in "Crook County", you're GTG on an AK-74 with all the evil features. The whole American made parts thing is a nation-wide law. You don't need to have any specific American made parts, but since the AK-74 isn't "suitable for sporting purposes" it can't be imported or assembled from more than 10 ATF recognized foriegn made parts. If the rifle you buy doesn't already have the sidefolding stock, and the stock that's already on there isn't US-made, you may no longer have enough US made parts for the rifle to be considered US made and thus legal. |

I see, thanks for the information guys. The short 105 barrel is illigal in all of illinois right, other then that I understand about the US made parts.
