Well, we got our first shipment of the SLR-105's and they are all that AND a bag of chips!
Quality is outstanding, of course. Receivers and trunions are Bulgarian, with a Circle 10 Arsenal code mark on the front trunion and a "made in Bulgaria" on the receiver. Finish is the typical Russian/Bulgarian black enamel, not as nice as the M5/M7 series, but hey, they are also a whole lot less expensive. Knock the front sight block off and put a Bulgarian block on there and add '74 brake of your choice and you're in business! I'm extremely happy with the new SLR-105 series, especially for the money. Sights are correctly aligned, has a K-VAR U.S. made trigger group (single hook) and while the triggers on the two I played with tonight weren't quite as nice as the M5/M7 series double hook, there is definitely no trigger slap. Buttstocks are the U.S. made "NATO" length, which fits me, but I know a lot of guys will probably change out the buttstock to suit their wants and needs. All in all, I think Arsenal Inc. has a new winner, especially when they are able to start selling these with the Bulgarian muzzle brakes already assembled. I'll take my digital camera to work tomorrow and try to get some pictures of the ones we have left. |

Had two ordered from Lew Horton today. Can't wait to see em, waited a long time to get my 74 projects up and running.
Forgot to mention.....these things are coming with serialized front trunnion, bolt carrier, bolt, and dustcover.
Dimples and chicken feet are present and accounted for also. |
"I'll take my digital camera to work tomorrow and try to get some pictures of the ones we have left."
These rifles will be under $500.00, closer to $400.00. I'll post some pics tomorrow night, it will be after 7pm EST. |
I want one ........ OK I want two , one black one green |
Is there any mag play with the east german bakelite magazines? compared to the bulgarian 74 mags.
Tagged, I want to see pictures. I think I feel a road trip coming on
With the foreign receivers isnt it inappropriate to put a folder on these rifles??????
I think you can put on a folder, but only if it is a US part, or you add another US part. Templar, what are the US parts in these rifles? Thanks, BoB |
I think I'm going to wait until Arsenal runs out of all their post ban parts that they stocked up on and starts making correct rifles.
buttstock grip handguards trigger disconnector hammer |
Roger that! |
Look at the end of that barrel ..... looks like capped 22-24 mm threads |

WTF is wrong with all these companies still putting out postban shit? Even looking through SGN, most all the ads are for postban firearms. By the time companies get off their ass and produce evil assault weapons, Kerry will have let another ban take effect
Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. Romanian WASR's are for sale on sites though with all the evil features. You tell me Century can get these out but nobody else can? |
when they put a '74 brake on them I'll probably get one
make that a brake and a folder. then i'm in. $450 + $100 worth of front end parts + $125 worth of ass end parts + my time to diddle with it and cut up a receiver that should be coming that way from bulgaria? i'll wait. i learned a long time ago when to jump and when to sit back and enjoy the ride. |
I thought about going this route.........but I wound up paying extra for a SEAK II..........
What type of muzzle attachment is that ?
I tried to find out by going on ArsenalInc's site but no info. I'm in NY so I need it to be postban compliant. |
¿Could you check to see if the SAM-5S in 5.56 is available also? wganz ¶ |

K-Var/Arsenal was convinced the AWB wasn't going to expire. Everytime I talked to them they wouldn't even consider the thought of the AWB going away. As a result they invested heavily in postban parts. They are now trying to dump them on the market and forcing you to spend more money to buy the correct parts. Tell them you aren't going to buy their products until they make a correct ban free rifle. |
They are making some varients ban free in 'limited editions'. One of the ban free milled underfolders is currently on gunbroker with a starting bid of $1595. They are making them, just make sure you pay the mark-up to get a 1 of 200 made rifle!! |

Bulgarian stamped reciever 5.45 AKs are here and nobody told me?
That's really not fair.... I'm not gonna have any AK money for a long time now so I'm gonna miss out. |
its pretty gay IMO. for the same price as one of their "correct" rifles or less, you could get a polytech legend. Now I'm not saying a poly is functionally any better than an Arsenal inc, they are both on the same level. But poly's demand the premium they do for a reason, they are the best and most correct AK's ever imported, and will never be imported again. Arsenal inc could crank out as many correct AKs as they want. They are charging "pre ban" prices for rifles with "pre ban" parts when there is no ban!!!! |
another thing... will they be making a stamped 7.62 AKM anytime soon?
and will a romanian sidefolder fit on them? that may make a better platform for the sidefolding beater I want to build. I'd rather pay the extra $100 or so for a rifle with good fit and finish, straight sights and a proper mag well than buy a WASR..... |
I'm going to wait like many people for the real deal. Arsenal Inc. is the one and ONLY company that I can think of that is bringing an AK to the market after the ban with that is completely post ban in appearance.
I'm hoping that the other rifles they will be introducing soon will not follow suit, as alot of people will just look elsewhere. Which would be ashame as Arsenal Inc might be the best game currently in town. |
What I see happening with Arsenal, Inc is that if John Kerry gets into office and by chance all of Congress goes with him, Arsenal is going out of business. Far-fetched? Not if the legislation which is already written gets passed. First Arsenal brings out a product in a configuration that nobody wants and sinks alot of money into this when other companies are filling the void with wanted products.
Arsenal continues being late on the ball and disappoints the market by charging outrageous prices for the incorrect guns. The new more oppressive law comes into place out-lawing the manufacturing of even compliant AK-lookalike rifles and Arsenal has no choice but to stop manufacturing guns that nobody wanted to begin with. I guess they can always hold a going out of business sale on the eve of the new law before it goes into effect. Hope it doesn't happen? I've already cast my vote for the November election. |
Arsenal has completely pissed me off. I went from being an AK guy to an AR guy. I figure at least the AR companies are producing products that I want.
The Arsenal company and it's policy of charging absurd prices for secret magic 1 of 200 rifles can kiss my American ass. If all they will produce "for the masses" is bastardized neutered rifles then they can keep them. I have no problem really spending 1k or more on a rifle. I've done it several times this year. But there is no way in hell that I'm spending that much on an AK just to add an underfolding stock. That should just be a standard production item. Just imagine if Bushmaster released a "special" batch of "M4" clones and wanted an extra $500 dollars per rifle, and insisted on making only 200 of them EVER...... It could just go ahead and close up shop. I predict that Arsenal either changes it's ways or files for Chapter 11. |
Hey Templar, where are your pics? The rifle in the above pic does suck, but I bet Arsenal will get squared away.
Sorry Arsenal, I waited long enough. I ordered a SEAK II with all the evil features I wanted.
Templar,
How does the mag opening look? Remember these are single stack receivers that are opened up. |
You can't tell that they started out as single stack receivers, the job is that good.
Is the serial number anywhere on the actual receiver, or just the trunnion?
GOT ONE FROM TEMPLAR FRI . TOOK TO THE RANGE TODAY .VERY ACCURATE LOW RECOIL. JUST PLAIN FUN TO SHOOT. TRIED SOME BAKE LITE 30 RND MAGS WORKED LIKE A CHARM . YOU CANT BEAT THE PRICE FOR SUCH A FINE WEAPON. IF NO ONE TOLD YOU ABOUT THE MAG WELL OPENING YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW IT .
Is the muzzle attachement a cap for the 24mm fsb threads?
Tomac |
Phew, looks like a winner... They got the selector marks and stops perfect (if you wanted to add in the other markings) and they didn't make the full auto position the semi position like on all those other chinese and hungarians etc..
I can see one trigger bump, is the other side there too? Some bulgarian guns only have the one side, but I am hoping for both sides to be in place. Now, if they would just come out with one without the bloody scope rail!!! EDIT: OOPS! It looks like in the pics there IS one with and one without the rail!!!! COOOOOL! -C |
It's not a muzzle attachment, it is a standard AK-74 FSB that never had the threads cut into it. -C |
wganz, the SA-M5S with the bayo lug and flash suppressors have been shipping and they are available.
Didn't see your post earlier, sorry. |
what is the actual diameter of the fsb 'unthreaded" extention?
harlan has reported that there is NOT enough material to thread 24 mm, but that there IS enough material to thread 22mm. |
Templar: do you know if the romanian sidefolders will fit the recievers, and if they will be offering a 7.62 model soon?
JD, yes, the Romanian stocks should fit right up with no problems, one of the big things about these rifles is that they are proper European stamped receivers, with the correct geometry and heat treatment.
They are planning to sell stamped 7.62x39mm rifles soon, but I don't know a definite time frame, but my edjumacated best gestimate would be another month. Campy, I'll try to find the calipers at work tomorrow and get you an outside diameter of the front sight extension. |
