2moa dot, 2x mag ML model from the EE, new cond, good price, bought without ever using one since I loved the idea of some mag while keeping the floating dot to speed up follow up targeting.

Similar in length/mass to my 1.5-5x20 Leupold VX3, and also very clear view. But with the Loopy at 2x, I have just about double the fov as the 2x Aimpoint, using my glass block basement window and dart board to view. The Aimpoint has a noted grey washer-like ring when sighting with both eyes, part from the outer housing and part from the reduced fov inside the magnified tube's sight line. Since the Loopy has a larger rear glass than the main tube, there is just a very thin ring. The big plus for the Aimpoint is the ability to move my head a huge amount fore/aft with minimal change in the main view (fov just shrinks with distance from your eye) and probably 50% more room to shift to the side without losing your view.

Until I knock some pins about, I won't know which is better for my needs (fake field combat with insurgent dominoes). I have no doubt that this is a better deal than the std Aimpoint with a 3x mag stuck behind it. I still love my Kobra, but the local plate shoots tend to have overlap in the sight line, and magx saves me from the party foul of hitting the other guy's plate.

It even works at arm's length, but the effective fov shrinks of course.

The small fov is no fun but the unit works fine enough for my used price.

Picture the std 1inch (30mm) tube view diameter, give it a 1/4inch (5mm) light grey ring around the primary view field due to the reduced fov from the mag and the housing itself, not at all black with both eyes open but the targeted round area about the dot almost seems illuminated in effect. The modest 2x makes mentally processing the left and right eye depths very easy.

Since I already had a cowitness height Aimpoint ring for the AR flat top, I used that gun for sighting in and a few mags at a pin before sunset on the windy drizzle evening at the range before the annual election meeting. It's a viable option so far but I have not really rung it out yet.

The IOR 1.1-4x with CQB reticle may be the best single unit choice out there imho, but I landed the loopy and aims for $330 total on the lightly-used market.

How different are the groups? There may still be a bit of motion in your mounting.

Any parallax they may have is not near that much. What gun/parts combo are you shooting with?

I have only tried the Aim2x on an AR A3 platform with the Aimpoint 'spring torque' co-witness ring. For a true Pic rail, IOR makes a very nice unit, one place is the snipercountry.com PX section. I strongly suspect the rail may be moving a wee bit despite the blue glue being used. From having to weld a loosened rail on a SAR, I understand how a tiny bit of slop causes huge movement downrange.

Do your big groups show any directional pattern, like an arc for the rail assembly motion?

For the current rail, a few $ and sincere amounts of JB Weld may be worth trying. Loktite may keep threads in place, but not be enough to putty in loose tolerances in the design like 'liquid shim'.
