Well, made my first mistake in the learning curve of AK building.

Trying to get the  rear trunion off of my Romanian kit - broke the sheet metal triggerguard, just at the rear right angler bend where it has the rivet attaching to the stub of the receiver.

Questions :

1) Is there anywhere I can get a Romanian Trigger guard to replace it, withou having to buy another whole kit ?

2) Would a trigger guard from other types of AK's work ?

3) Can the pieces be welded back together ????

Global Trades has Bulgarian and Polish trigger guards.  I would assume that the hole spacing is pretty much the same, but I can't say for sure.  The Bulgarian ones are $9.99 and the Polish ones are $12.99.  Is the selector stop okay?  If not you can get one from Global also.  But it isn't the same as a Romy one It  doesn't have the groove in it though like the Romy ones.

You could also try the company you bought the kit from.  They might be able to supply you with one.

I got one of these just for this purpose.  You get a complete trigger guard, selector stop, rear tang, and stock for $25.  In the special notes when ordering, I put in a request for one that the torch didn't get too close to the guard.  Came in great shape!

ETA:  How did you BREAK the trigger guard?  I've only managed to bend the hell out of one...
