To add to that, we have had great success spot welding our flats before we bend them.  That helps in several ways but also produces some problems with some bending jigs.  It saves on having to buy special tongs for the spot welder to be able to reach inside an already bent reciever and makes getting the lower rails lined up much easier.  We use a jig from gunjigs.com and the guy who makes them is aware of the necessary modifications we did to the jig in order to make bending a flat with the lower rails already welded in possible.  We have made dozens of receivers this way and have had great success.  I just want to add that to the already great bit of info already provided.  Enjoy building an AK and be warned it is addictive.
