Can you use Automotive cleaners such as brake parts cleaner, or carb cleaner as a SAFE substitue for Gun Scrubber for my AR?
Thanks

I use brake cleaner.

Of course "safe" is a relative term as brake cleaner is flammable and will eat many plastics and any wood stock finishes.  It also strips all oil and grease off, so it must be replaced.

Check the link for an earlier discussion on Brake Cleaner vs Gun Scruber (due to an error in the title you would not have found it during a search).

One warning is that many brake cleaners burn nearly as easily as gasoline (check MSDS on acetone).
