Long story short.... My Firing pin retaining is getting bent to the point where it will not even go back in. It's a 10.3 inch SBR with a Suppressor... WHY?

Maybe a couple reasons on a shrouded type carrier. When the buffer and carrier stop hard against the back end of the receiver extension the firing pin travels back and the pin's collar slams into the retaining pin. Or maybe enough gas pressure is leaking around the bolt tail it forces the firing pin back and the collar hits the retaining pin either over coming the hammer spring or after the carrier has traveled enough to the rear the firing pin is not held forward by the hammer.

I hate the retaining pins and in my experience once they get bent they just totally suck and you'll fight them.

I bought a bag of them so I can just throw away the old pin if it starts to get a spread to it. I've never figured out a way to fix an fucky retaining pin.

Next time you place a parts order buy a bunch of extras.

ETA in my particular scenario the cause of the pin being bent is almost certainly my installation. My specific issue is the spread of the tips. After reading the previous response I think maybe we have two different issues.

I guess trying things like heavy buffers, stronger recoil springs, or adjustable gas blocks might help and be costly. I would probably just  buy a few of these 12 pin packs for under 5 each plus shipping. https://botach.com/battle-steel-firing-pin-retaining-pin-12-pack/.
