Is there a way to tell if the barrel you ordered/bought as a chrome bore is actually chromed?

shine a flashlight into the bbl, it should be pretty shinney (if its clean)

If you have the flash hider off or can see the crown at the end of the barrel's muzzle, you should see a silverish ring around the bore at the end when it's clean.  Other than that, barrel stamps, and looking down the bore like ALPHAGHOST said, I don't know.

If you don't already have one, buy a bottle of instant blue solution at WalMart (or whereever), dip a Q Tip into  it, and dab the wet end onto any silver coloring you find either around the end of the chamber, or the muzzle of the barrel.  If that silver color is chrome, the bluing won't change the color a bit.  If it's just the bare, unfinished edge of an unplated barrel, the steel will be colored by the solution. That's the ultimate test
