Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Possible Headspace Problem?

I bought a used "20" Bushmaster Heavy Service Rifle" barrel: stainless, 1:8 twist, unknown chamber (.223, 5.56, or Wylde).  I checked headspace with my DPMS bolt, that I am hoping to use.

Bolt closes on a NOGO gauge, but does not close (by a long shot) on a FIELD gauge.

Safe to proceed with this barrel or not?  What can I expect?

Your good to go.  I had to toss my nogo guage and went with an individual micro'd set from Brownells.

From what I read, all the military uses is a field.
