I just recieved my stripped flat top upper and I am trying to install the forward assist on it.  I have all the parts but I don't understand the diagram in the USMC tech manual on the installation.  Do I just slide on the spring push it all the way forward and tap in the roll pin?  I don't understand how the roll pin keeps the forward assist from poping out.  Am I missing something?

Thanks for the help

try and find something in here to help you

what i did was just install the spring and then the pawl there is a slot which the roll pin will go through which will hold the fa in the upper.

The roll pin engages a slot machined into the F/A which prevents it from falling out.  Be careful when sending the roll pin home.  Oil it first.
