Barrel nut tighten and fit?

OK, on to the next question. And thanks guys for your help! I am having difficulty getting the barrel nut aligned properly with the receiver. When I tighten down to the correct torque value and even beyond (my estimates), I am a little short of fitting the gas tube into one hole in the barrel nut. If I loosen the barrel nut to align with the next hole, it is loose. What do you suggest? Thank you.

Put some grease on that sucker and tighten, loosen then re-tighten several times and you will be able to get it. If not, use a cheater bar.

I had the same problem on my recent (first) build. Just keep working at it and be patient. As you continue working it it will tighten enough to get the gas tube through. Remember to post pics when your done with your build.

The others have already mentioned what you need to do.

Make sure you have the threads properly greased and loosen and tighten the nut until it's properly aligned.

Each time you tighten the nut just torque it enough to move it a little more then the last one but take your time and don't try to torque it all the way at once.

Use moly lube on the threads, torque it to 30#, then tighten however much more you need to clear the gas tube. You have no choice but to go tighter, as you don't want less than 30#.
