Yes, but I will state that I only did it because I couldn't find my large can of the proper mil product. I pulled that barrel several months and several thousand rounds later to turn it into another project. There were no problems with installation or removal.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the proper mil spec product and where do you get it? Thanks. GS

It's called Moly-Slide (molybdenium disulfide grease).

It was given to me. I'm sure there are other things used as well, but for me, this is a life time supply, and it has been working out quite well for my projects for quite awhile.

I am using the Brownell's lubricant for my first build, but I can't confirm that it is as good or better than Bushmaster's lube. I have read get the Bushmaster stuff, and not products from auto parts stores- higher concentration of molybdimum disulfide. Brownell's claims their product is a better lubricant. Does anyone know what is so special about molybdimum disulfide for this particular application?
