When installing a FS with a crush washer, does one need to put on the crush washer on with the "pointy" side towards the FS or toward the receiver?

I already installed the FS and in the process scrapped up the washer, so I'm ordering another crush washer and giving it another try, want to do it right this time.

Does it even matter what way you place the crush washer?
