I have an armalite m15A4 carbine which I would like to equip with a collapsible stock.  I am running into a very stubborn screw on the top portion of the butt.  The one that holds the sling in place went easy, but I suspect the top one has loctite on it.  Any advice?

If it has locktite, you need to apply heat.

I've done this two ways.

1. For a large screw, put the clean tip of a soldering iron on it until it heats up.   It should unscrew easily.

2. If you don't mind heating up a lot more, use a heat gun.

Agree 100% also use a 'gunsmith' screwdriver instead of a regular tapered one.  A gunsmith on is more squared get a better bit on the screw and isn't tapered which will mess up the screw head.  You can get a cheap screwdriver and tip set from Wally World for about $15 in comes in a blue case.

10-4 on the heat I will try that.

I do have a smith set of drivers from Brownells, so I have that covered.  Thanks for the ideas guys.
