Looking to build my first AR, and I'd like to build a flattop.  What are the differences between the EOP and the UTE uppers, versus the regular A3/A4 upper receivers?  Are they higher so you can use the standard AR front sight?

I don't see any advantage to those.  If you mounted an optic on top of that, you would have to have a giraffe neck to see through it.  Stick with flat top receivers if you want to mount optics.  If you are strictly an irons type of guy, get the A2.

The EOP uppers raise the rail by about .75 inches from where the A4 upper is. For me, it works perfefctly with some low rings. Cheek weld, hold and eye relief all work out great, and I dont have to use super-ultra-way-up-high rings to do it.
