I'm about to begin my first build, based on Model1Sales kits.  I have a line on the Double-Star and DPMS recievers stripped for $99 and $119 respectively.  Any feedback on these two?  Would it be worth the 20% premium to go with DPMS?  Any reason to believe either would not work with a Model1Sales kit?

Thanks!

I've gone with the DPMS... will be ordering an M4gery kit from Model1 real soon now... waffling on lightweight vs HBAR - it'll be a plinker, woods gun, home defense rifle.  Anybody know the weight savings on light vs heavy?  is the lightweight one going to spray big-assed patterns at 100yds despite what I do?
Thanks!   heavy.gif

I've used a DPMS lower and the finish and machinework was immaculate.

I don't think you could of gone wrong with either.  Both are forged (and probably forged at that same place) so it's six in one, half dozen in another

If you'r upper is a mod. 1 you should go with the DPMS lower. It will fit better. Just make sure you are getting the forging. Not the cheap casting.

Anyone know if stripped M16 lowers can be bought (without the auto sear hole, and with a longer fire control group cavity and deeper shelves)?

I've heard that early Oly Arms made a few, but are any still in manufacture?

Thanks.
