Is there any advantage to this? I was just flipping through a catalog and came across that.

I think the 1:9 is probably more "standard"...a lot of manufacturers choose that twist for their regular HBAR type rifles.  It'll handle a broader range of lighter and heavier bullets, but it's not as good at the really heavy stuff as 1:7.  I've shot 69gr Sierra Match Kings in several 1:9 rifles with success, and I can't see I'd need to go any heavier for anything as I'm not doing any really long range shooting.  

YMMV, though, and if you need really heavy bullets for 600 yard shooting, the 1:7 is probably the ticket.  For general all around use, though, the 1:9 is ideal.
