Howdy y'all,

I am formulating my plan to build an AR. I've not even considered Colt and I even own one of their 1911s (which, btw, it is 100% reliable and shoots great). I'm planning on a M4 style carbine with mostly RRA components. Colt's non standard build has caused me to completely disregard them. ANy reason I should reconsider?

Thanks... regards.

To repeat the standard line, "If it ain't a Colt, it's a copy".

The only thing non standard about civilian Colts is the FCG pins, and there are so many replacemsnt parts in the larger sizes it is a non issue.  The sear block can make fitting a match trigger a pain, but it can be done.

Colt parts also cost significantly more and may be hard to come by, so you are probably better off with another brand for a build up.
