I had a few extra parts laying around, so I decided to build a simple, clean CAR-15.  I used a forged pre-ban Oly that I received in a recent trade, some old Colt M4 handguards and a 16" HBAR that I removed from a older build.  It turned out pretty good.  I'd like to have a lightweight barrel, but this is fine for a cheap build.  I may just have the barrel cut back so that it will the 16" with the CavComp.  That would take about 1.5" off the total length and leave less 'naked' barrel hanging out front.

I don't get it, if it is preban, why screw around with a brake?  Why not get a real flash hider?

I prefer brakes.  I've never cared for flash hiders nor have I any use for one.  I've got a Phantom on one of my other prebans (only because I've been to lazy to replace it) and a three-prong on my SP1, but I prefer CavComps over every muzzle device I've tried.

Finally, a clean rifle. Thank you very much.
