This is the latest, at least that I know of, from Streamlight's Rail Mount series and I've had mine in for a couple months now... my thoughts:

Pros:
-Cost.  Comes in at around ~$115 shipped street price
-0 flickering issues or anything like that
-Can be programmed to 3 different mode functions (I suppose this could be a con as well)
-fits on any Surefire Scout mount that I know of
-has helicoils in the mount which are going to increase durability over just standard threading
-1,000 lumen / 27,600 candela output
-comes with a tape switch / tape switch mount
-beam pattern has a lot of throw (could also be a con for some) as shown in the video

Cons:
-made in China
-somewhat heavy vs. some competitive options at 6.4oz

Full review with beam comparisons and other ramblings I add in:

I really wish they had kept the head small and used TIR.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and pick one up, but I'm still torn on this or the streamlight TLR-1?

Don't mean to derail thread

I bought one off amazon two weeks ago in a moment of weakness. The head fits next to a BCM/Troy front sight if you use a Arisaka offset mount. The beam has more spill than my m600 and is super bright. Surefire has them beat on pressure switch design though.

I just got a TLR-1 long gun kit, pretty compact.

Plouffe, if you had to pick between this one and rm1 for a general purpose rig?

Actually, throw in the tlr1-hl 800lm long gun kit into the discussion, while we are at it

Are there any Streamlight TIR optics? Woukd have upped the price and dropped lumen output.

It's the only legit weaponlight that is any sort of compact that will out throw and out spill an M600 Ultra.

I just ordered my dad one for Father's Day. I have a RM1 and RM2, I'm impressed with them so far and plan to buy a few of the hlx and a couple more RM1s for myself but the hlx kind of makes the rm2 obsolete

It looks to high for a 12:00 mount

Any updated thoughts on this one?

Anyone know how its' beam etc is compared to the TLR1-HL 800lum?
