The Dieter CQD vertical forgrip looks awsome.  I would like to see some good Surefire combos with it.

Gimme a couple minutes, and I'll post some photos. IMHO, it is the next best thing to the SF M900.

Is this Dieter grip really that much of a big deal over the GGG or KAC to justify the $100 price tag

If the very plain and very plastic Knights grip is worth the money they ask for it, then the Dieter grip is easily worth the extra expense.

My  TA31 came in today from SWFA today and I am waiting for the ARMS #19S from MSTN.  After seeing  your TA31 at the shop I had to get one,  I just may sell my Aimpoint, we will see.

Thats a Surefire MU light. MU means their Millenium Universal line. They are EXTREMELY modular. That specific one is the M962SU. Their codes are a little hard to get at first, but once you understand them, they are easy. All the lights in the line start with M9. After that you have

M95 (two battery system)
M96 (three battery system)
M97 (three battery system with turbo head)
M98 (four battery system)

After that you have the code for which mount it uses;

M9x1 (two thumb screws)
M9x2 (ARMS throw lever)

Than after that you have the switch option

M9xxC (click on/off tailcap)
M9xxP (momantary push button)
M9xxSU (wire and pressure pad)

The SU's will be followed by another number. This number signifies how long the wire is. For instance, my light specifically is the M962SU4 because it has a 4 inch wire.

Neil, great pics. But that thing looks VERY heavy, and, it looks long? So of course...how much more heavy and is it longer than the KAC. That thing has to be the most sturdy looking front grip around. Thanks.....Chad

I dont know for sure but it is a lot shorter than the newer style Surefire M900's. Its really not all that heavy at all. The first and only grip I ever had was the SF M900. When I got the Knights grip, I was thinking to myself... where's the rest of it? Is this it? This Dieter grip is much more my style.

BTW is there room on the botom rail for the CQD grip and the M962?  In your pics it looks like you could still move the grip back a bit to give you more room for M962.

Yeah, there is room on the bottom, but it is tight. I've tried it like that and actually mount it to the bottom when transporting it in a case.

could it be just the pics or does the mounting base of the Dieter grip make it longer than a KAC vert grip?  the grip itself looks about the same but it seems to hang lower with that bulky mounting area.  just a curiosity on my part...terrific pics all!!!!!!

Is there a remote switchpad that fits this grip that works with a Streamlight® M-6? My remote is too big(too long & fat) to fit in the well. Also, the Streamlight® M-6 small switchpad wire is too short for ar15'

Where did you get that idea?  He has stated numerous times his favorite grip is his M900 and the Dieter is the next best thing.

new-arguy, question for you.  It's obvious you prefer the SF M900 series of weapons mounted lights for your ARs.  My question is why did you choose the above setup?  That setup looks to be in the same neighborhood price-wise as the SF M900 setup.

Just wondering what the pros and cons are between the 2 is all [:)]

Seth,  Not that I am trying to answer for New-ARGuy, but here are some observations I can see and reason I go with the 3 or 9 O'clock light mount.  
#1 For a bi-pod on the bottom and/or (GOD forbid!) placing the weapon DIRECTLY on something sturdy to stabilize.  Less wear & tear on the light bezel assembly when in prone.  Of course SUREFIRE products are made tough, but, I hate to tear up the stuff "I" have to pay for!  
#2  I prefer to mount my light on the left side as I am right handed and when seeking cover on my right flank I have inevitably "Slapped" the light against the cover.  (long tiring days of CQB...)
#3  Others prefer the light on the right side (even being right handed) due to the light being out of angle in relation to the eye when "satelliting" or poking the weapon out and light probing/searching an area.

I chose this set up because I didnt want two of the same systems. Thats the same reason I went with the RAS II on this gun instead of another SIR. I like the SIR better, but that doesnt mean I dont like the RAS II enough that I wouldnt have one. On the contrary, I like it a heck of a lot and wanted one bad. Thats why I got it.

Same goes for the light. M900 is my favorite no doubt, but that doesnt mean I dislike the MU light series. In fact, I think the MU light is the most modular set up Surefire produces. It can change from a 2 to a 3 to a 4 cell system to a laser, and back again. All you need is the right parts. It is pretty incredible.

The M900 is my favorite for a couple reasons that are based purely on personal prefference. One, I love the grip and the way it feels. It is a more compact and lighter system due to how it utilizes the grip as the battery compartment. It has several switch options built in to it. Momantary pressure pad, constant on/off and kill switch. MU series doesnt have this. Also really enjoy and appreciate the LED Nav lights on the M900. I think they are sweet and genuinely useful.

Thanks to both of you.  Makes lots of sense to me now.

Al (Size15s) just brought something to my attention. Above I said the MU series does not have as many switch options as the M900. Thats only partially true. the MU series will work with any one of three tail caps. The SU tail cap is the wire/pressure pad that I have. The is also a P tail cap. It is a pressure button just like on other hand held Surefire lights. Then there is the C tail cap. The C is click constant on/off button. Click it on and it stay on, click it off and it stays off.

Al reminded me that if you get any MU light with the P switch, you have all three switch options as well. Push the button and let it go for your momentary on off. Twist the tail cap all the way on for constant on. Twist it out an extra turn and it is locked out.

I know for sure this does not work on the SU tape pad switch like the one I have pictured above. And, if I recall correctly, it does not work on the C clickie tailcap. If I am mistaken about the C, I hope someone corrects me.

Just something else to think about and to keep the info on here factual.

The C Clickie can be disabled.
The rubber shroud should allow you to use it momentary-on unless you intend to click it.
Clicking it turns it constant-on.
