I need a stock about 1.5 - 2" shorter than my A2.  I would like to get a 16" upper for my AR and use the short stock.  This is a POST BAN weapon.

How hard is it to go back and forth between A2 and whatever you all recommend to replace it?

What I'm looking for is a real dirt gun - drag around the farm, in the weeks, whack a coyote etc., mend fences, etc.  about 2MOA would be fine.  Any ideas on a cheap 16" upgrade?

Cheapest would be puting a new barrel kit on it. A1 is a little shorter than A2, but I don't know what is a little shorter than that.

Changing the stocks is simple, just dont loose any of the springs! Cav Arms is making some A1 length stocks. I dont know specifically how much shorter they are, but folks who find the A2 stocks a little too long LOVE 'EM...

Me on the other hand, I need my RRA stock, which is accually 3/4 of an inch longer than A2.

Try the CavArms "C1" stock.  It's a direct replacement for the A2 buttstock, except the same length/profile as an A1 (about 5/8" shorter - which will seem to make all the difference in the world.)  I've installed one on all my post-bans.
