I took my 300 blk out again today and for the second time my UTG mount became loose. I know UTG is cheap.  I have two mounted on a 5.56/.223 AR so I assumed it would work on this 300 blk. Is it possible to tighten the base of it so it has a tighter fit on the rifle or do I need to buy a better mount?

Try a small dab of blue loctite on the threads.

Is it a riser mount? Quick detatch?

If so, over tightening will break the twist knob.

Cool, the crossbars have locking plates that are tension controlled via adjustment screws. Open the qd levers, adjust the allen heads and you should be gtg. They should close/lock to your top rail pretty damn stiff.

Another possibility to consider, your top rail may be out of spec,  and the mount is adjusted as far as it can be. Just thinking out loud.
