My Aimpoint PRO is about 5 years old.
I change the battery every year.

Last time I was at the range was on a bright sunny day, on a gravel range.
That's the brightest conditions I shoot in unless there is snow on the ground.

To really see the dot, I was 2 clicks from maximum.
It was tiny and barely visible.
To be really usable, I had to be on 1 click below max.

Does that sound dim to you guys?
I don't remember having this issue before.
I got the battery at Batteries Plus, and I'm wondering if it's fading.

How high do you have to set your PRO in bright conditions?

i've never noticed a battery difference in my m2/3's and i run them at 1 click below max in bright day light too, anything less is not enough IMO for the arizona sunshine.

Are you using a kill flash?

I have the same settings with mine in the sun light.  One click below max for me.

Even indoors two clicks below max.  Not sure why it takes so many clicks to get a bright enough dot, but it is normal.

Call &/or email Aimpoint.

Likely you have a bad switch.

If you bought it new from a vendor (may need to register it for warranty), Aimpoint should take care of it.

Had something similar happen to one of mine... no so confidence inspiring.

But Aimpoint did take care of it.

An ARD will not have any effect on the dot brightness.

To me it seems like the dot is slightly brighter with the kill flash ( ARD) installed.

In my opinion it's likely there is nothing wrong with OPs Aimpoint; other than very bright sun or perhaps a weak battery.

Aimpoints failing are rare. It's not just my opinion. I have several cops in the family and they say the same thing.

Now EOtechs everyone knows have a very bad reputation for problems.....

Thanks for the replies.

No kill flash.
Sounds like mine is normal.

I agree. ARD makes dot appear brighter to me as well. Hell if your really having problems, you can install a front lense cover and just use both eyes open. Works great for night shooting indoors. Keeps the dot from washing out when using a light.

OP

Typical voltage of a Cr1/3n is 3.2 volts new. If you have a multimeter and the voltage is below 2.8 volts, I'd replace it.

In full sun with a light background and a good battery you'll need to be at 1 click below max brightness.  +/- 1 click depending on other factors.

I never know how many clicks I am on I just reach up and turn it up or down if conditions require it .
