Aimpoint or Eotech red dots are typically the most recommend around here. Is the .22lr going to be your SHTF weapon system? If not, you can find some knockoffs of Aimpoints and Eotechs for your dollar range.

I've got one on my .22lr. It works but I feel like it mounts just a little on the low side.

The battery life of the vortex strikefire make it the winner in my book.

eta it's a litte over your budget but not much for the increased battery life imo

+1 on the Primary Arms red dots.  Nice price, great customer support, good results on centerfire rifles and shotguns - you can't beat them for a .22 upper.

I assume you are using the .22lr as practice and have a .223 for shtf. I also have this set up. I use the same scope that I have on my .223 which in my case is a Leupold CQ/T. It is on a quick release mount and I swap it from gun to gun. I have written the adjustments for the change in zero and I simply change the zero when I switch it from gun to gun.
