Have a SureFire weaponlight and don't like the ARMS or Thumb Screw mount? Are you using a clicker style tailcap and find it hard to reach? There is now a solution to your problem! This mount was requested by some well known and respected shooters and I thought I would show you an Engineering model. To install, you simply remove the old mount (thumb screw or ARMS throw lever) and screw the interface plate onto the weaponlight bracket and your DONE! This mount lowers your weaponlight about half an inch. Doesn't sound like much does it? Trust me when I say that it makes a world of difference! The other great part is that I no longer have to fight to get my ARMS throw lever open! Pricing has not yet been set. Production will start VERY soon on them!

Gee and I just bought a Yankee Hill offset mount AND an ARMS 17 throw lever base to accomplis exactly this... and this looks like it will put the light closer to the weapon... damn
IPSC_GUY sends |
This is correct. It keeps light closer to the weapon making it easier to reach.... C4 |
SWEET! Now tell Mark that what we really want next is AR-10 FF tubes! I'd buy two as soon as I had the money...
That is the BOMB.....The LaRue guys have done it again!!!!!!! I've got a couple 962's that I'll be upgrading as soon as those are realeased!!!!!
Thanks for the pics Grant! Semper Fi Jeff |
WOO WOO!!
Lumpy and I have been chomping at the bit for this for a good while now. |
oooh, I'd better watch this (and I second the interest in an AR-10 FF tube too)
Hey, how about a version for those of us with standard Surefire or other 1" diameter lights mounted in rings? Looks like this layout would work well for that too...
SWEET...
And I've to this poor lonesome M952C that's ARMS throw lever did not take Afghan too well |
Patience, my young padwan..... |
The LD OP-6 use and ARMS #17S and the SF weaponlights use the #17 so it won't work. C4 |

I asked ARMS about something like this about three years ago. I ended up using a GG&G offset on the SIR because I couldn't reach the push button. I can with a KAC or like model, but this would make it alot easier.

Now all I need is a Surefire. Can we get some up-close pics of the mount with and without the light attached? It is hard to see what is looks like when it is attached to the gun. |
I can't tell for the pics, but would this cause a problem for turboheads? I've got a 971 (thumbscrews) and the first row of fins are right on the rail (DD9.5FSP) I don't want the light any farther forward, since it is placed based on my VFG preference.
I'll test it out if you want to send one to me (I'll send it back after testing, honest!) |
I am waiting for one myself. I took the ARMS mount off a M900 and it appears to be identical to the #17 shown ARMS' website. |
This is total crap. I hate Larue.
Not because they don't make quality products. They do. They just keep cleaning out my bank account. |
I can see that. I don't have any Larue stuff yet. My stuff (what little I have) is all ARMS, and it works, so I can't see replacing it. But if Larue would make flip front sight/gas block combo like PRI's, but only more affordable, I'd be all over it. I can't use the YHM because I can't get to the set screws (DD9.5FSP rail.) |
M962C I believe. SW02 tailcap |
This correct. It is the SureFire M962C. It features the DEVGRU tailcap... C4 |
Yes it does. It is an ENGINEERING drop where they used several diff. parts to make it. The finished product will be called SF (not M68).... C4 |
Grant, If you want me to field test it, you can drop in the box with the other stuff before shipping?
Mark |
This looks like it will give the boot to the last piece of ARMS gear I have. |

It looks like an excellent way to get a throw lever mount closer to the rail. The ARMS throw levers are great for their conveinience, but the SF thumb screws mounted them closer to the rail. I personally liked the flatter mount over the quickness of the throw lever. Seems like now I can have both!
Grant, can you see if it sits too close for the 1.5" diameter turbo heads like on the M97's? |
I have seen close mounting before, but since most weapons are used by holding the hand guard and space is required for hands, too close is a big problem. Lights are generally turned on via two methods, tape switch, or the on off button, but issue devices what ever it is, don't interfere with being able to get a good grip on the weapon, not a flash light. Hence a stand off like Shurfire use with the #17 for their military contracts.

I don't think it will fit unless are running the light at the end of the rail (like it is on mine)..... C4 |
i would be running it on the end of the rail, but still wonder if the turbo head would interfere with the barrel?
Neil, I think there will be a special mount for the turbo head as well... C4 |
Howdy Jack! Most folks that are running a Millennium weaponlight (what this mount is made for) are running a VG of some kind so there is zero problem with what you describe. If you put the light at the end of the rail (like I have it in the pic) there is plenty of room for your hand. When the ARMS #17 or SF thumb screw mount is used with say a DEVGRU tailcap (like the one pictured) it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to reach the tailcap with your thumb. This new mount from LaRue Tactical basically makes the ARMS#17 obsolete to say the least! Good Shootin Jack (Sorry Dick)! C4 |
LOL or what? You gonna kick my ass??? Even if it isn't your "given" name it is still fitting! C4 |

Look, this thread has good info on what seems to be a good new product... There's entirely too much bull crap going on in the AR boards, the optics and mounts section in particular, and it is going to stop.

Grant or whatever your name is. 1. you do nothing but promote products you sell, to the extent you make false statements about other products, then when the facts are given, you deny the facts, just jump to attempted contrived personal discrediting attacks. 2. You interfere with anyones response to a members question if you don't like the answer if it's something you don't sell. 3. You consistantly chime in anytime with nothing that contributes a thing, just to antaganize, start arguments, and be a wise guy. 4. You throw mud on anything that may cost you a sale, and make attacks again. 5. There are several folk who don't even bother much with this forum because of you. 6. I try to give honest responses to many subjects that I have an opinion on(when a question is asked). You, well we all know what you do, attack, misrepresent, and this last bit above is just samples of the constant month by month nonsense of trouble you try to stir up. Well, I am not scared off by your vile operations here, and will respond to your nonsense with verifiable facts every time you start to attack me with continuos bs. I have an engineering back ground and lots of weapons and equipment time, and I happen to appreciate ARMS equipment as the US military and many other nations do also. You don't seem to sell that equipment, because you promote certain other things, and make up false statements about what you don't sell. If someone asks a question, and I say look in a copy of the Black rifle 2 book for the info, you chime in and try to discredit the book, even though you admit you haven't even read it. That is just plain ignorant! I didn't write the book nor am I a gun writer, but since that book is the latest of the documented facts on so many questions of interest to the membership, why do you attack the book, has it got facts you don't want the membership to know, engineering from all major military, developers or suppliers, for which you sell non of, as far as what I see you promote? Kick your ass, you seem to be doing just fine in that area, all by yourself! Jack |

BACK OFF Buddy!! I asked first! I've got the XM tailcap, so the "reach" with the thumb isn't bad (since the button is off-set to one side.) My thumb rests in perfect position. I can see where have a button more towards the center of the light, like the DEVGRU, would make it a stretch. I l don't mind the thumbscrews, because I rarely want to take the light off. But it would nice to do so quickly when I want it off. Those thumbscrews can be "thumbbusters"..... |

Hello Jack! Let me answer your questions for you:
1. you do nothing but promote products you sell, to the extent you make false statements about other products, then when the facts are given, you deny the facts, just jump to attempted contrived personal discrediting attacks. I am a dealer! Promoting gear that I sell is that I am supposed to do! That is why I pay a dealer fee every month. You don't pay a single dime but promote ARMS products DAILEY!!! How bout you pony up some coin (Lord knows you must be getting a kick back from ARMS by now) for a REAL account on here and support ARFCOM! 2. You interfere with anyones response to a members question if you don't like the answer if it's something you don't sell. I only interfere with your comments as you NEVER promote anything, but ARMS products! There are many other choices out there besides and they are BETTER! I will make you a deal, you respond to every thread where someone is looking for a mount for either an Aimpoint and or scope with a suggestion other than ARMS and I will leave your "ARMS is the best" comments alone. Deal??? 3. You consistantly chime in anytime with nothing that contributes a thing, just to antaganize, start arguments, and be a wise guy. I chime in with an answer to the members question. You just don't like the answer I give. Remember, not everyone thinks ARMS is the best. I view your comments to be the same way. Often times you are almost doing a disservice by recommending ONLY an ARMS product... 4. You throw mud on anything that may cost you a sale, and make attacks again. Not true. If you happen to look at my web site, I do sell ARMS. So to say that I am discrediting your opinion because I don't stock ARMS products is just not accurate. 5. There are several folk who don't even bother much with this forum because of you. Well if I am scaring folks off then they are most likely ARMS fans (which doesn't bother me in the least). There are folks that don't post on here anymore, but it isn't because of me! 6. I try to give honest responses to many subjects that I have an opinion on(when a question is asked). You, well we all know what you do, attack, misrepresent, and this last bit above is just samples of the constant month by month nonsense of trouble you try to stir up. I have no doubt that your OPINIONS are honest. My honest opinion differs from your love affair with ARMS. If you think that I misrepresent the facts, have you read what you type? Your the one that said Pat Rogers was on the take and just some "gun writer!" Well, I am not scared off by your vile operations here, and will respond to your nonsense with verifiable facts every time you start to attack me with continuos bs. Let me know when the facts show up. I also hope your not using that POS book called the black rifle II for factual proof are you? I have an engineering back ground and lots of weapons and equipment time, and I happen to appreciate ARMS equipment as the US military and many other nations do also. How cool! I am an Engineer for the DOD as well. Ya see we have something in common! I however do not appreciate ARMS products to the level that you do. You don't seem to sell that equipment, because you promote certain other things, and make up false statements about what you don't sell. Negative ghost rider! I have ARMS products on my web site and sell a lot of them. I do not promote them though. I give people choices when they ask for say a BUIS. I tell them my first choice is TROY and my second choice is ARMS. Same deal on Aimpoint mounts. My first choice is LT, second is PRI and third is ARMS. The customer can choose to buy what they want. That is because the black rifle book II was funded by ARMS! Why would I want to read something that Dick S. gave his OPINION of how history unfolded. The Nazi's wrote many books (burned more of them though) that painted history in their favor and made them look good. I don't read any of those books either to know they are BS! Jack, does Dick S. know that you are basically making his company look like CHIT? You ramble on about ARMS products being the best to the point where people are starting to look down upon ARMS. Does he (Dick) know that you are doing this?? If I owned ARMS and saw you running around this board making my company look bad I would be on here so fast to tell you to STFU it would make your head spin! Maybe I will drop them a line and advise them of what you are doing to their good name! C4 |
You just can't stop the irresponsable attacks on facts that you refuse to even check out. I'd say you obviously have one agenda, to attempt to discredit anyone that disagrees with your bogus unsupstantiated non factual assertions. Documented engineering and historiocal facts are ignored by you, if it interfers with your sales of something. Go ahead, keep up the attacks on me, you swing at me with bs, and I will just swing back with facts.[ Too bad that you have to initiate this kind of nonsense any time that I say something you don't like. I don't like it and I'm sure that no one else does, but I am not going to let you go ruin my attemts to give the membership verifiable facts. I have never started a thread of any kind, you start them frequently only to promote something your selling, and God forbid that anyone give a different view other than in your promotion.
Good shootin, Jack |
