I have been a hardcore Aimpoint guy for about 2 years now. I have played with my partners Eothings and always bashed on them. The main reason is the circle dot reticle and I always felt it was fuzzy. Truth be told though I actually liked the design better of the Eothing and felt I had a greater FOV with it. My question is someone told me that they make an Eothing with just a dot like the Aimpoint. If this is true I may try one since I also hear they are coming out with a magnifier for it and the LaRue Tactical mount has provisions for it. Sorry if this is old news, as I said I never kept up with the Eothings. I also saw Wes is trying one again.....

There is a "dot only" EOTech (I forgot the model designation), but it's a 1 MOA dot, much smaller than the Aimpoint's dot.
The 1MOA model is available only on the 511 model. Model number is 511.D1
Not your fault you like the EOTech, it is in my opinion a better sight then the aimpoint, but I guess Luimpy thinks other wise. I even got Wes @ MSTN ot get a 552. |
And you call yourself a "LaRue Guy"..... (walks away shaking his head, mumbling in disgust....) |
Make that "two", mister!!!! |
Hey I said I was gonna get a LaRue mount. I didn't know it was only a 1 moa dot. That won't work. Oh well I guess there is still 3 Aimpoint guys.
AHHHHMMMMM!!!!!!!!! There's more straight guys out there than just you three |
Not for long |

How the hell could I forget Jeff? Sorry man. |

I always thought we should petition EOTech to do two things:
1. Replace the dot only model with a larger dot than 1moa. When it is surrounded by the circle, it is a lot easier to use. Without the circle, it really needs to be beefed up to retain the advantage of faster speed using the EOTech. It would be a better model for those who seem distracted by the "circle of dots", even though these people probably just aren't using the optic correctly otherwise they wouldn't be distracted by the dots. 2. Replace the "N" battery models with ones that use CR123s for the ability to use lithium batteries that stand up better to heat than the alklaine only Ns. Another good thing about this would be commonality of battery supply with taclights so that you only have to carry one type of battery. I'm sure the lithium CR123s would also give a longer battery life than the alkaline Ns. |

I'm still an Aimpoint supporter. You guys will see the light and come back someday...

Ahem... Fellow Aimpoint user checking in. |
Me too...
Except.. um... I have my Eothing on the way from SMG Lee just to make sure Aimpoint is the best |
I had to buy one to try it too. It is now long gone.... |
Not like I'm much help Lumpy, but I'm with you on the aimpoints.
Everyone counts |
I have heard complaints about the visibility of this dot in bright sunlight. I've never had a problem with the circle/dot reticle. |
Seriously, the dot only EOTech is not something a majority of people will like. The 1 MOA dot is too small to use by itself. The EOTech works best with 65 MOA outer. If you want a dot only optic it's best to stick with Aimpoint. |

I will take the Aimpoint anyday. I have a buddy that bought an EOTech and now he is selling it to get a proper sight, an Aimpoint.
Count me in as an Aimpoint user (M2 and MLXD) and keeping my eye on the EE for more.
IPSC |
Right here with you buddy. |

....beeeotch |

Another Aimpoint guy checking in. Dig this:
Oh really? Well, let's see if he "turns to the Dark (EOtech) side". Here is a qoute from Wes in an e-mail I got from him: ....GLAD YOU LIKE THE AIMPOINT. I FEEL THEY ARE GROSSLY UNDERAPPRECIATED, MYSELF. IT CAN'T BE BEAT FROM ARMS LENGTH TO 200 YARDS. FEW POSE THREATS BEYOND THAT...... Only time will tell |
Tried them both and bought the Aimpoint. The Eotech was a great sight, but the 10,000 hour battery life of the Comp ML2 and the uber quality of the Aimpoint made me a believer.
Yea thou I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, as my Aimpoint comforts me, For thou art a Mushroom cloud layin Mother F%^$# ...... I'm with ya Lumpy!!!!
Bah, you dont own any Eothingies ... |
I love this idea, BUT a stray thought occurs. Aren't the AA and N batteries 1.5 volts each? So, how would it affect battery life in switching to the 3 volt 123-type batteries? Would this be too difficult a conversion on EoTech's part? Maybe we could power our 123 powered EoTechs with only one battery, and have the second as a backup. |
Good grief I started an Us vs. Them thread. I said I will stick with my aimpoint.
Not going to either. Have shot others. Have looked at others. Watched good friend toss his after it failed in the middle of a class. He got an aimpoint and hasnt looked back. Oh, and I HAVE stayed at Holiday Inns, on numerous occasion's. |

Hmm all these Aimpointusers chiming in to defend their precious CCO. Well, I guess dinosaurs still do roam the Earth.
I'm a more of a BSA guy myself.
What I would really like is an all metal sight with the EOtech type open body and the nice crisp 4MOA dot from the Aimpoint. |
Somebody makes a dot sight thats better than the Aimpoint, I'll be the first one to plop down my cash. Eotech hasnt |
