Combat_Jack gives you a good advice, except I'd go for cantilever spacer if I could start over.

So, I dont need a swan sleeve, or another long rail to raise the #40 flip up iron sight up to the level plain as the front sight is on the rifle. This will work straight on to my rail on my rifle...

Yeah, the #40 is made to be mounted to the rearward most rail of your flat top. It will be at presicely the correct height. So will your Aimpoint if you use either of the two spacers available for the #22M68 ring you are looking at. Personally, I think the extended spacer is worth the extra $20 beans!

The #22M68 w/ cantilever spacer and #40 is one hell of a setup. It served me very well as an intermediate setup on my rifle (which is why ARMS stuff is so damn cool--the modular approach allows for upgrades). I think you'd be extremely pleased with that setup. Good luck!

Im a KAC fan and dont really like ARMS. Thus Im running a KAC 300m BUIS and KAC Cantlever Aimpoint mount.

Yep, another vote for the 22M68 with cantilever. I had the standard spacer and swapped it out (thanks to strazz!) with a cantilever and like the setup MUCH better.

I love my 22m68 with cantilever spacer. Good friend of mine has the GG&G but I don't think it is worth the price difference. After comparing mine and his I have had three friends get the 22m68.

I got a good deal on a GGG cantilever and have had good luck with it. It has a spare battery/cap on the side and the thumbwheel is secure and fast. It also puts the sight a touch more fwd than the ARMS, but both are great.
I don't like to shove a bunch of heavy batteries in every grip and stock hole on the rifle, but one little Aimpoint batt is nice and easy to get. |

I also use the KAC cantilever mount with the Kac 300 meter buis. I also have the Arms#40 which is the best back up site.

You can also go with the 22M68 with cant spacer and a GGG mad flip site. I have used all of the different set ups and find I get much faster hits with the GGG mad.

The standard width of the military's rear sight aperatures is narrow to allow for fast target aquistion. With a mad being aprox. 3 times wider, it slows down the ability to engauge tagets rapidly as it is like trying to peek thru a hole in a wall untill yo find the target, very slow. The genuine current issue military rings for Aimpoints all put the optic at a specified ht., therefore any gov't issue rear iron sight is also to the mil spec., and will be at the correct ht. to co-witness with an Aimpoint since it is held by the mil spec ring.

The ARMS #38s-ex was designed to get the Aimpoints, etc. out to the furthest position and that gives the widest field of view plus the fastest in multible targeting. The 22M68 is my 1st choice for the ring and no spacer would be needed on the #38.

ARMS #40, #22M68 with full spacer. I just put this together and I find that when the irons are flipped up, they sit a little low in the Aimpoint sight. Is this how it is with everybody else? I went from an Eotech to this setup and it seemed that the Eotech sat lower. The irons are still quite usable, but I have to drop my cheek lower to access it. Should I have gone with the half spacer?

That's the right height. That way, you can look over your sights to use the Aimpoint, or just drop your head down slightly if you need the irons. It provides more usable cheek positions, which allows you to get on target more quickly from a low ready. With this height, you can take advantage of the entire area of the lens. I know a few people who have mounted theirs without a spacer and I find it to be absolutely intolerable. If I hadn't gone with a SIR, I would have rather had the LMT rear sight.

The mil std. ht. of the Aimpoint red dot has to be higher that way since the dot can float into the front iron if you were not using a cheek weld, like what can happen in combat and you don't have time to get a comfy cheekweld.
There is no way that a cheek weld is dif. from the Eotech to iron and or Aimpoint, just and your eye ball and instinctive head nod. Good Shootin, Jack |

Going from memory, both are about equal in terms of forward Aimpoint placement. One disadvantage of the #38ex (for me anyways) is that you can't get the handguards off without removing the Swan Sleeve. Not terrible, but it was a deal breaker. |

I would like to thank all of the forum members who responded to my post. I have since ordered and put on my M4, the Comp ML2, #40 BUIS, #22M68, with cantalever spacer.
I am very satisfied with this etup, and am in the process of setting up my next preban AR15. I have a preban with the fixed handle AR, and need a pic rail for it. I think I am going to go with the Arms #39 setup. Will this fit without any tooling or modifications on my fixed handle A2 gun????? |

So, say you want to mount an aimpoint on one of the SIR 45? You wouldn't need a spacer to keep things co-witnessed?
What if you had the 50 where they've dropped the front portion of the rail a little bit? I'm trying to decide what model SIR to buy and I was thinking of the 50 so it can co-witness with the EOtech, but how do I make it work with the Aimpoint? |

If you put an Aimpoint out front, then you simply put in the full spacer.
