Not sure anyone really cares, but the 20 I got from Locked and Loaded were Magpul followers and dated 5-21.

Honestly going to wait another few months and scrounge up another 25-50 to stash away.

What I'd like to know is if there will be any 2022 production.  Are we just whittling down remaining vendors' stock?

Wait, wait, wait, Magpul greys or the yellows? I didn't know that they would work with the 20's too.

I placed three orders with different vendors, mix of 20's/30's, all 2021 production.

The E2, some blue, some green/gray/foliage.

What is the preferred follower to look for and why?  I thought I read somewhere that Okay makes the OEM Colt/USGI magazines.

NHMTG/Colt/Okay.....all one and the same, manufactured by Okay Industries.

Magpul Enhanced followers are what most prefer.

You’d have to look pretty hard to find green followers. Okay has been using Magpul for about ten years now.

Thanks, I mistook your saying "20"" as in singular and not 20 as in bulk

I almost got excited and was ready buy a bunch of Magpul followers. Definitely my bad

I bought 20 from that link earlier in the thread. It was a good deal for Okay at a little over 10 apiece, but OOS now.

Just a heads up/before anyone gets excitable.....the Magpul Enhanced followers will fit in the straight 20 bodies, they will not function correctly. Straight body mags need a follower that is able to tilt.

Why does Okay have 2 very similar colors with fde and desert tan?

Edited to add : just discovered primary arms shipped me a desert tan 30 instead of fde ordered.

The call the E2s Desert Tan, the regular mags FDE. I bet they’re the same color.

Thats what I was thinking but I ordered a regular 30 round fde mag when they shipped a desert tan.

Okay only makes one color, which they call Desert Tan, but some dealers label it as FDE on their websites, because that's the name that most people are more familiar with and look for when searching for products. I think Desert Tan is a better description for the color Okay produces, since it's a lighter tan than what people commonly call FDE.

I have plenty of AR-15 mags, but since Okay Industries is stopping production, an order went out for 25 more mags which gave me free shipping & 5%off with a coupon. Maybe this will stop my mag buying!

I was wondering  if any 2022 production also. I Have placed several orders from 3 different vendors, a mx of 20s, 30s regular and E2, all colors. All have been 2021 production. All 30s received have magpul foliage green followers.

I think I am to 4 or 5 orders now, buying when I see deals or as funds permit. All dates have been 2021 production. I believe the excess inventory is working through the pipeline and question if 2022 production exists.

Botach has been GTG and no issues, of course Primary Arms has also been an excellent source.

Okay is in the process of running 3 months of inventory for the buyer to cover orders during the equipment move. The plan is to shut down Okay’s production line and ship the manufacturing equipment in early/mid-October. The new company is estimating it will take 3-4 weeks to be up and running (mid-November?).

I could see PSA before Magpul.

And if so, hopefully they do not dick it up if it comes to pass.

From conversations I had when the Gen M3 was being developed there were no distinctive qualities of the Okay magazines during testing.

They were no better than any of the other aluminum GI mag manufacturers of the time.

My experience aligns with that. I think they’re just as good or trashy as any other GI mag and I don’t own a single solitary aluminum mag anymore.

I’m honestly surprised that Okay was able to sell their mag business as they don’t OEM for anyone, or have a government contract anymore.

Why did they lose contracts, was it because of M855A1 drama?

At the risk of sliding, I remember reading that at one point CENTCOM had banned all but one brand of USGI in OIF and OEF controlled areas, for a certain amount of time at least. Was it Okay or Center that was nuked for a bit? I don't own any CI but lots of Okay and like them to be honest, especially their 20's.

They’re probably decent enough but the floor plate and the feedlips are the same what’s on the 30s.

I don’t see any purpose for an aluminum 20 other than retro appearance and they’re not right for that.

I've got a handful, they work as intended.

Basically a cut down 30 body.

Eta: Gunmag Warehouse and PA  both have Surefeed 20s in black.
