how do you store your 30 ROUND mags at home and in transit to shoot?  in ammo cans?  30cal,  50cal?  if so, how many can you fit into each 50cal ammo can?  do you have a designated "mag case"?.... such as a break down shotgun case to hold all of them.  what do you transport them to the range in?  i just got 26 30 rounders and this is new to me.  thanks

For home storage of my mags, I use a Proximity Fuze can. They are the same length and width as a .50 cal can, but about 2 inches taller. They will hold 28 30 round mags. For the range, I use a Claymore Mine bag. It is a shoulder slung bag, with a divider in the middle, and a snap down flap. You can carry 10 30 round mags in these. I picked them up at a show a couple years ago, for $3.00 ea.

I have twenty-two 30-rounders in an ammo can (the 800 linked round cans for the M249), 11 per side, standing up, with cardboard dividers separating each mag.

I have a pic of this but for some reason I can't get to my photo album here.  Sorry.

I keep 8 30-rounders loaded and in a LBV.  The rest are in cardboard boxes in one of the safes.  I've only got 24 30-rounders, 1 10-rounder and 31 20-rounders, so it's not like they take up too much space.

I keep them loaded and in my vest. I take a few different ones to the range with me to keep them rotated.

I've found that Rubbermaid "shoe box" containers sold at WalMart are a perfect fit for USGI 30's.  This is how I store mine at home:

At the range, I'll either throw them in my range bag, which is a converted computer case ore I'll put some in USGI mag carriers.

I keep my loaded mag in my rifle. Its been sitting in there for about a year now. I keep and extra box of bullets in a .50 cal ammo can.

Just kidding. I have one of those steel shelfs that hang on the back of my gun closet door. Each shelf will hold about 28 mags stood upright and 8 20's laying down on the thin side in front.
Vaportrail has the best way with the fuse can though.

I use the same tubs as Engineer.  They work great, wish they held more though.....

I store mine in 50 cal ammo cans, but I really like the look of the Rubbermaid boxes.  Due to recent purchases, I have about 10 more than will fit in ammo cans that I have.....might give the Rubbermaid a try.

I first put mine in "Magazine Bags"--essentially ziplocks that are magazine sized.  Then I keep all the bags in a big tub I got at Walmart.  It has a seal to keep dust, moisture, itc, out.  I store that in my closet.  I also keep 12 mags loaded with IMI SS109 packed in my tac vest, for quick SHTF situations.

For storage, I keep both 20rd and 30rd in bandoliers. These keep the mags from rubbing each other and you can pick these up at gunshows pretty cheap.  The bandoliers go in to plastic bins.

For transport and range use,  I use the saw mag pouches.  7-30rders fit perfectly in them. I used the old USGI mag pouches for the 20rders.

I like 30cal ammo cans for boxed ammunition and 50cal ammo cans for loaded AR mags.

I store twelve loaded 30 rounders and eight loaded 20 rounders in each 50cal can, with plenty of space on top for more.

I have so many that I keep them in cardboard boxes.  I do keep four of them in my rifle case and I rotate them out with each trip to the range.

CJan_NH - that is one heck of a setup!  You may spur me into getting my ammo & mags organized [;)]

At the house- 5 in the pouches on my rifle case, 8 in my vest and 3 in a modified GI mag case.

Going to the range - I usualy empty the vest and carry all my spare mags in an ammo can.

NOW THAT'S FUNNY!
"You know you're a redneck when you use AR mags for coasters in the living room!" (Besides a beer pitcher would wobble on them.)
