yes that will do for plinking, but be aware that is M855 and has a "Penetrator" projectile.
Be careful what you shoot with it, some ranges might not let you shoot it ect.... Your 1:7" will shoot anything 55gr+ Buy whats cheapest is my advise |

Yes this is perfect ammo for your ar15. I myself was in your shoes about 5 months ago when I first purchased my Colt LE6920 with 1:7 twist. I bought PMC X-Tac from palmettostatearmory.com and it has been great ever since. I'm working on my 3rd case of the stuff this week and not once have I had any type of error with anything. Ammo, gun, mags, anything. Today I took two friends out to the range and between three different shooters at 50 yards, the X-tac was putting down about .5-1 moa with 6 shot, shot groups. Buy buy buy

Thanks for the help, PSA was a little cheaper so I ordered. Today has been a great day. Bought a spike's lower, Magpul rear Mbus, magpul foregrip and 1000 rounds!!!!

all guns have a favorite ammo. That will do for plinking, but you may have to try different ammo to get optimal accuracy. As someone said, ask your range about shooting penetrator. I personally would stick with a bulk FMJ before penetrator.

Would barrel length make a difference? Isn't 1:7 one twist for every seven inches of barrel? What if you have an 11.5" barrel?

I'll second the the IMI M193! Great ammo for the price if there's any left get some you'll not be disappointed! And if you start reloading it's great brass for that!
If your wanting real cheap stuff go with the Steel cased ammo of your choice. Some like it cause it so cheap , I'll not run it as I'm a reloader!
