The price is within 20 bucks for 1000 rounds. Which one should I buy, and why ?? If I could afford a case of both right now I wold just get both, but since I cannot....please help me decide.

Thanks for any sane responses.

I just ordered eight 30 round mags for my AR and two 20 round + two 25 round mags for my M1A from 44mag.com
I'm ready for some ammo now. By your response I guess you think both are equal. Thanks.

You should buy the PRVI M855 on sale at wideners.

If you only want LC or Winchester, get whichever is cheaper.  Both should be very high quality.

It's a bit expensive, but I wanted to stockpile some high quality penetrating type rounds in case of an emergency. You might need something able to cut right through body armor and helmets someday.... Like in case of a U.N. invasion.

I agree, I'm down to less than a 1000rds of m-855.

Well...if the UN is wearing current body armor (level III/IV plates)...your M855 won't touch it.  Better get something better....

If that is the case I sure hope my .308 Federal 168 gn Gold Medal will...... coming out of a M1A super match. The damn thing is soooo heavy though.

Um, no that .308 won't do the job against current US type armor either. Headshots or abdominal area shots would be a good idea.

.308 won't punch through body armor ??  That must be some tough stuff. Do our guys in Iraq have this stuff ??  I hope so.

Wow! That is expensive!

I wonder if my two factory-packed cans of USGI Lake City M855 are worth that much per round?

Me, id go with the Winchester as the LC M855 you find is seconds or most likely 3rds as in XM855PD. Winchester will be first teir.

As for the UN with the armor, the plates are fairly small, can with good ammo/gun/shooter get around that. But he is right, they take multiple hits of 308 and i beleive even AP......but all that area around that plate is good to go!

Somewhat off topic:

Current (E)SAPI plates are rated at multi-hit 7.62x39 and 7.62x54 AP and lesser threats.    The "older" SAPI plates from the '03-05 era wouldn't stop AP (but will stop M855.)

They do now!
