I would look at Lithuanian surplus or the newly manufactured privi partisan .308. Either can be had for about the same price, but still slightly more than wolf .308. I have not fired any of the new polymer coated wolf, my only m1a experience was with the lacquer coated stuff, and it would cause cases to stick in the chamber occasionally. It does shoot acceptably though, or at least it did in my experience.

For the prices of 7.62 these days it had better be boxer primed! Wolf is ok in an M-1A, put around 150rds through my Scout this weekend with no probs and fairly decent accuracy too.

I like the Barnul .308. Dirty but its been good to my FAL.
I keep the "good" stuff in reserve or for sighting in. |

If you arent planning on reloading then check out the Barnaul at Wideners, it is $6.60 a box if you order 500 rds or more. It is good stuff for practice ammo. |

+1 on the barnaul....decently accurate in my experience and not terribly dirty.

Prvi. Tops in my M1A, boxer primed and the OF brass is remarkable clean. More expensive than Barnaul which is the best Russian ammo, BTW.

Lithuanian, Privi, or Igman. Avail Lith is fairly new as ammo goes 03-04headstamp. The Privi and Igman on the market right now is new. They are all Boxer primed = reloadable. I have sectioned out both Igman and Privi recently on a mill; the Igman is more of a stout cartridge but folks have been having good luck with reloading the Privi.
For the tiny difference in price between some new/quality .308 and the older berdan primed surplus stuff it's a no-brainer to go with the new and boxer primed stuff....IMHO anyhow. |

Looks like I am going with South African for quantity or GGG for reloadability and not much sacrifice in price and quantity.

Alright, here's what I've got:
Barnual for $170 per 500 Wolf for $409 per 1000 GGG for $520 shipped for 1000 in battlepacks and wood crate Prvi 168 gr match for $650 shipped for 1000 South African at $550 for 1120 I would use whatever extra I have for 9mm ammo. |
