For purpose of this thread im going to consider a case= 1,000 rounds

2 cases          PMC 55gr FMJ                        $275 per case
1-1/2 cases    Federal AE 55gr FMJ               $275 per case
1 case           Winchester Q3131 55gr FMJ     $275 per case

Total was 4500rnds and average of  $0.275 per round
All ammo is in factory boxes

Later this week getting another 1,000 rnds of the FED AE 55gr FMJ loose sealed in an ammo can for the same $275.....

Well, it's too late to ask now!  But you must already know you did good in the current market, otherwise (presumably) you would not have made such an expensive purchase.  You got all good stuff at good prices, congrats!

High ammo prices seem to be around .35 a round. At .27 around, you did pretty good... if it is all non-Wolf ammo.

There are a number of deals I've seen where a "case" was 1080, 1200, 740, or some other weird number.  To give an example, to get 1000 rounds of RG (sorta) on strippers in bandoleers, you'd have to buy 1 1/2 cans from Widener's.

I see people refer to 500rds. as a case all the time.  1,000rds.= 1 case to me.

Exactly why i stated that im considering a case 1,000 rnds....

ive seen different places say they are selling a CASE when its only like 840 rnds....

i purchased off a private person locally who decided to offload some excess ammo since he's hit some hard times....

luckily (or not so luckily) i just bought my first AR-15 in March so i didnt ever really see LOW .223 ammo prices as you guys have, but i have seen the .45ACP prices go up since i got a G-21 2 years ago...

NOW IM A FULL BLOWN AMMO WHORE and used to purchase a thousand rounds at a time.. now i laugh a purchasing 1,000rnds at a time.. the purchase was actually supposed to be 6,000rnds not 4500rnds but the person mis-calculated and counted a few 500rnd boxes as 1000rnd boxes...

anyway now my problem is that this isnt plinking ammo its WHORING ammo well the Q3131 is going to get stashed anyway.... i have 1500rnds of GUAT 2nd's that need to get finished then ill start on the PMC then the Fed AE (or should i use the Fed AE 1st then the PMC????)

I dont even shoot that much anymore but i keep buying.. i think im just trying to make an ammo castle so i can play in it !!!!! I wish they told me that when i grow up from playing in sandcastles that im going to wanna make castles out of other more expensive things like 5.56 ammo.. I THINK IM SCREWED
