Besides one being 55g and the other 62g why are shooters taking a chance on corroded ammo when you can get the ADCOM M855 for the same price per round?  I have used thousands of rounds of ADCOM for the range and have had good luck with it all.  I know some have had issues with the ADCOM but I never had any ADCOM that looked remotely like the corroded Guat.  Surely no one would use this ammo for other than range work.  I sure wouldn't trust it for SHIT storage.  I think the buzz word battlepacks, and wooden crates really helps sell the Guat.  I just don't know why someone would take the chance with old ammo in sealed packs that you have to open to inspect anyway.  If its OK there goes the sealed pack.  

I sort of agree with you. From what I've read of the Guat it's a gamble, 'tho AIM is making good all the crappy rounds if what I read is true. At least when you go to a casino they ask you what you're drinking. I mean, TERMITES in the ammo? I'd lean towards the Adcom over the Guat. (Haven't bought either). The shortage in 5.56 may be causing some to try ammo they would have barfed on last year.

Some of it does look like crap but from what I can see, it shoots good, even the bad looking stuff. The nice looking stuff is better looking then the xm193.

You are also talking about 2 different types of ammo. the Adcom is 855spec with a 62 grain bullet with penetrator. The Guat is 193 spec ammo with a 55 grain bullet. Some people want some of the 55 grain ammo as it might get harder to find in the future. The 855 will remain in production for the forseeable future.

For some with a 1/12 upper, 62 just won't cut it. It just won't stabilize properly and will keyhole.
Don't discount the Guat, my last lot was absolutely perfect. Looked like it came off the line yeaterday. I've got some cruddy lookin stuff in another batch but the funny thing is, it's more a surface thing. It's not really corrosion how we tend to think of it, but more a surface reaction to SOMETHING.

I consider it an OK deal, not  great, but not horrible either. AIM has been very very good about standing behind their products. I don't think you will find anyone who can say they were treated poorly by them. So far it has shot just fine, and reminds me of the SA5.56 that was around years ago. The SA was in better battle packs and such tho.

EDIT--just saw FALARAK'S chrony results.  Looks like it is M193 spec velocities--I saw a previous report that was different.

Mine is all tarnished but not corroded.  I have shot about 300rnds w/ zero probs.

Much of what you are seeing chronoed is out of a 16" BBL.

I know there are some 1/12s out there that will not stabilize the 62gr but as far as 55 grain going away I don't think thats going to happen anytime in the near future.  We have new production Q3131 that mil spec 55 grain + (can't believe I am going to say this) the Wolf M193 just could turn out to be very good 55 grain ammo.  It seemed that many forum members were really bashing ADCOM M855 and that ammo had the same customer support  from Aim as the Guat stuff.  
Maybe the nicer looking Guat stuff is better looking than XM193 but XM193 has a fantastic reputation and has been #1 on the Ammunition review and reference list for years so I don't think you can compare the two.  
It's good to hear that Aim is really backing their products.  Now we can all buy with a little more confidence.

I ordered the Guatemalan before I knew about the corrosion problem.  Also, I'd already noticed there seem to be good deals available on M855, but I wanted 55-grain bullets.

The ugly stuff has worked well for me, the rifle doesn't seem to care what it looks like.  And the crate of replacement ammo that AIM sent was shiny and spotless, it's actually some of the best looking rifle ammo I've ever gotten.

I certainly learned some things from this episode.  I think we've seen the limitations of battle packs.  (How about sardine cans?)  But anyhow. . .   Since AIM are now inspecting each crate and weeding out the corroded stuff, it seems like a pretty good deal to me.  Canned Heat is about the same price, isn't it?  And that is remanufactured.

As long as your only going to use it for range ammo and Aim is standing behind it go for it.   I am getting a little curious myself and if the reports on this ammo stay the same I might just buy a case to try it out for range work.  Sometimes it tough to be curious.  You buy shit you don't need.  GET THE C-MAGS OUT!  THE QUAT IS ON THE WAY
