I just picked up 1000 rds of .223 UMC from Natchez at $3.69/20rds.

I don't believe it to be as hot as WWB, but it ran just as good in my RRA 20" for plinking.

Just be careful.  I bought 40 rounds one time, 2 boxes, and one had an oversized case that caused the round to not chamber.

1 out of 40 is a pretty bad failure rate for ammo, especially something that bad.  Not a fan.  I've had much better success with Wolf than UMC, and for cheaper, too.

I'll make sure to keep an eye out for anything abnormal, thanks for the advice.  I bought some XM855PD before this, so I'm getting good at scrutinizing ammo.  I really don't know exactly what to look for other than, "is it different than the rest".

This is only my 2nd case of ammo I've ever bought in my young shooting life, and I've had no major problems.  I'm sure something will KB sometime.

YMMV, but I've shot thousands of rounds of UMC in several different calibers.  All went bang without problems.

never had a problem here with UMC 9mm/45acp/.223 or .308

Same here, no problems with 9mm, .40s&w or 357sig.  Put about 700 rounds through my XD40, about 500 rounds through my S&W 469, and about 500 rounds through my Sig 229.  Not one problem with UMC.
Magtech on the other hand....

I've fired thousands of rounds of UMC 9mm, .45ACP, and .223 without problems.

The .223 is reliable, accurate, and shoots to the same point of impact at 50 yards as does AE223 and XM193 in my guns.

I zeroed with XM193 and then used the UMC .223 for a class last summer.  I could hit the top half of those little Larue motorized metal targets without trouble at 100 yards off hand (when we were racing against each other).
