In commercial .223 I would suggest 62 gr FMJ from Federal or Winchester.
They have a BC of about .28 vs .24 for XM193 and 62 gr is at about the midpoint of a 1x9's optimal range of bullet weights (50-70, per Kulek & Duff's "The Complete AR-15 Owner's Guide").
Works for me. Accuracy has always been better than 55 gr commercial in my 1x9 (tighter groups with my 3-9x40 scope), and even more so than XM193. While not as hot as XM193, it does offer another choice, especially if you want a little better accuracy at a price that won't break the bank. For example, my local ammo dealer sells FAE 55 gr for $110/500, XM193 for $115/500 and Win 62 gr for $120/500. Of course, YPMV.
My son's Oly 1x9 AR15 is zeroed with Win 62gr, and he uses it with great success at 300 yds with open irons at his range near Philadelphia. He has showed me NRA B27s with every round of a 30 rd mag on the silhouette, and the majority in center mass. (Oh, to have the eyes of a 26 year old again!)
Since future supplies of XM193 are uncertain, I try to shoot up the Win and ration my supplies of XM193 for SHTF.
