Torf,
Thanks. Upon further research I have almost reached the conclusion that I don't want or need one of these 223 WSSM rifles. It seems they really have serious barrel erosion issues. I did determine that the listed velocity of the 223 WSSM is about 3850 fps (while some actual results seem to indicate about 100-200 fps less velocity than advertised). It seems pretty much right on par with the 220 Swift in terms of velocity and trajectory.
After reading about the barrel erosion problem and the problem with some rifles feeding these cartridges, I think I may instead just choose a nice Remington 700 BDL in 22-250 caliber. I won't be giving up too much velocity (55 gr bullet @ approx. 3600 fps) and it still shoots plenty flat enough. Plus, it doesn't have the issue of rapid barrel erosion, at least not to the degree of the 223 WSSM. And ammo is probably also more available and less expensive. I will likely top that package off with a nice Burris scope (probably the model with multiple aiming points) and should have all the varmint rifle I will ever need. I have the trajectory listed for this caliber in my books and it looks more than adequate. But thanks again for offering to help.
