Gonna be hard to do. Small charges of faster powder (Blue Dot, etc.) will get the velocity, but won't cycle the action. I doubt you'll find a load that will cycle a standard rifle at that low a velocity/pressure. How about a softer buffer spring? I'm not suggesting it, just wondering.

Go back a couple editions of Hornady... there was "reduced load" info given for the 55gr FMJ. Used one of the odd IMR powders that comes 8oz to the can. I did load some about 13-14 yr ago, it will not cycle, just goes bang.

That would take some balancing, but it could be done. |
