I want to send my 9mm upper off to have the barrel cut back and have a flash hider permanently installed to bring it to a LEGAL 16 inches..........which of these would look better? A Phantom 5 slot or an Xm177 flash hider? And who is a good smith to have do this?

Actually... instead of a flash, I'll go with a fake can.  I had one done a while back... it used a A# flat-top with a round target handguard, had the barrel cut to the edge under the handguard, and installed the fake can.  It looked clean... damn, didn't have any pix saved up

Whatever you do... make sure the item is drilled-n-pin, that's the best way to attach it... IMHO.
